I'm looking for a fiction where Blair takes a course and becomes a profiler. Somehow he's able to enter a trance and sense the evil/darkness of whomever he makes a profile of. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Blair is a well known psychic who has helped solve several cases. While in Cascade, he starts getting death threats. Simon assigns Jim to protection detail. By this time, Jim is starting to have trouble with his senses. Naomi is murdered by the person trying to kill Blair.

The story was first posted about a decade ago.
